Theme of the contest
We are looking for videos showing people who are having trouble handling some sort of interface (machine, robot, computer, remote control, car, etc.) or who face problems or barriers in an everyday situation. Of course, the problems we are looking for must be referable to bad usability. Videos can be turned in from all over the world. The language used in the videos should be English or German, though, unless the video is self-explanatory.
Type of contributions
Only videos dealing with the theme of the contest are permitted. To participate, videos need to be uploaded to YouTube and published in the group named „UsabilityVideoContest“ (www.youtube.com/group/uvc). We check videos for contest-suitability before activating them. All videos in the group UsabilityVideoContest take part in the contest automatically.
Format of the videos
All formats allowed by YouTube are permitted. Videos should not exceed a limit of two minutes.
Short description of the videos
In the description, outline the content of the video and/or the usability problem.
Number of videos
Every participant may turn in as many videos as he wants.
Uploading the videos
A YouTube account is required. All videos in the group UsabilityVideoContest will automatically take part in the contest: www.youtube.com/group/uvc
Timeframe of the contest
With immediate effect, videos can be turned in. Every month the jury will award a „best-of-the-month“-video. A final award ceremony will take place on World Usability Day 2008. Detailed information will be provided.
Winning videos will be chosen based on user comments and ratings and the evaluation of a professional jury. Winners will be notified via their YouTube ID and asked for contact information.
